Our aim is to build on each child’s unique strengths and natural ways of communicating, while supporting their understanding of social communication and higher-level language. We recognise that there is no single “right” way to communicate, and we value differences in how children connect, think, and express themselves. Therapy focuses on helping children feel confident, understood, and supported as they navigate everyday interactions at home, school, and in the community. Therapy goals may include:

  • Supporting understanding of how language is used in different social contexts, while respecting each child’s preferred ways of connecting and communicating

  • Strengthening pragmatic language skills such as sharing ideas, clarifying messages, and participating in conversations in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful

  • Developing higher-level language skills, including making inferences, predicting events, and better understanding implied meaning in stories, conversations, and everyday situations

  • Supporting social understanding by exploring intentions, perspectives, and patterns in interactions, without viewing differences as problems to fix

  • Building emotional understanding and language to talk about feelings, relationships, and social experiences

  • Encouraging children to communicate their needs, preferences, and boundaries with confidence

Social Communication & Pragmatic Language

We support children using a neuroaffirming approach to strengthen social communication, pragmatic language, and higher-level language skills (such as inferencing and predicting skills) while valuing their unique communication styles and ways of thinking.
